About Drew Hart &
His Hognoses
Welcome to my personal corner of the internet, where I share my passion for snake husbandry and document my experiences raising my pet hognose snakes. My name is Drew Hart, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the world of animals—especially reptiles. This site is a reflection of that fascination, allowing me to delve into the care, behavior, and unique charm of my beloved hognose snakes.
Currently, I have four male hognoses and two Female hognoses. My first male, Rodney, is a regular hognose of unknown genetics, born in 2024. I adopted him from Northshore Pets in Monroe, Michigan, and from day one, he’s been a friendly, curious little guy who never fails to make me smile. My second male hognose, Max, comes from Michigan Made Reptiles and was also born in 2024. He’s an Albino Conda, 100% het snow, which makes him stand out with his striking coloration and distinct pattern. There is Alan, male, who is a Purple-line Arctic Conda het Snow, and purchased from Fox Science via MorphMarket. He was also born in 2024. Finally, for the males, there is Carl, purchased at Tinley 2025 from Geckos ETC. Herptoculture. Carl is a Red Conda Het Albino. For the females, both of which I also purchased at Tinley 2025 and also, both from Geckos ETC. Herptoculture, I have Sam and Vera. Sam is a Red Evans Hypo and Vera is a Super Artic. Watching all of them grow, shed, and explore their enclosures has given me enormous insight into the care and dedication these wonderful snakes require. I purchased all of them as youngsters and am excited to see them grow into adults and bring you along in their life journey.
Beyond my love for reptiles, I’m a proud Army veteran, having served in a capacity that taught me resilience, teamwork, and attention to detail—all of which come in handy when caring for snakes. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, followed by an M.A. in Psychology from New York University. This background has given me a deep appreciation for behavior—human and animal alike—and continues to inform my approach to understanding my snakes’ habits and welfare.
Professionally, I’ve spent the past 25 years in legal technology, working with complex systems and managing projects in a fast-paced environment. In my free time, I enjoy indulging various hobbies: creating handmade jewelry, tinkering with technology, exploring science in all forms, and occasionally playing tennis for a bit of friendly competition. And of course, no introduction to my life would be complete without mentioning my dog, Sugar, a Pekingnese and Chihuahua mix, who keeps me on my toes and always reminds me of the joy pets bring to our lives. Fox was my previous dog, an English Springer Spaniel, who was a wonderful companion for many years, before passing away.
I started this website primarily to document my snake hobby—tracking their growth, sharing care tips, and reflecting on the responsibilities and rewards of reptile ownership. I do have future plans to perhaps get more involved in the business aspect of the reptile hobby and hope to use this site to announce those plans and let you follow my own personal and professional reptile journey.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy getting to know more about my snakes and the world of hognose husbandry. If you share the same passion or simply find these creatures as fascinating as I do, feel free to explore, comment, and join me on this ever-evolving journey.
